The town of Chesley, Ontario oil painted on wood, part of my Bruce County series! Chesley was originally named Sconeville but that was replaced in 1868 to mark the career of Solomon Chesley, an official in the preConfederation Indian Department. It’s town slogan is “The Nicest Town Around”. The town is also known for Big Bruce, a statue of a giant bull standing at the north end of town.
